Our client is a public organization in Qatar.

Reporting to the Department Manager your responsibilities will include:

- To be a member of the DD management team;
- Liaise with the Planning Authority and other government department and utility providers with regard to drainage requirements;
- Liaise and technical support with the Infrastructure/ Technical Affairs Dept. of the PWA;
- Responsible for the preparation of strategic plans for the general development in terms of sewage treatment and treated sewage effluent re-use requirements;
- Liaison with the various unit heads within DD to ensure conformity to the overall plan and to highlights conflicts;
- To initiate new work and prepare design briefs for Consultants;
- To constantly review current design practice and where necessary modify to suit;
- To constantly review current specifications and apply new technologies to suit specifications with continuous update of codes and standards;
- Assess and evaluate developments/catchments and potential sewage generation;
- To be familiar with Ashghal contract procurement procedures with PWA Model Forms of Contract (eg: D&B, DBO&M, etc.) and other types of international Conditions of Contract (eg: FIDIC, ICE, BOOT, etc.);
- To be acquainted with the administration procedures of the DD;
- To review Consultants design submissions;
- Audit Consultant submissions in terms of quality and compliance to the requirements of the design briefs & standards;
- Offer technical advice to the Technical Affairs Dept. of the PWA;
- Technical advice on STW process design matters;
- Liaison with Project Division and advise on design issues;
- Liaise with Urban Planning Authority to secure land for drainage use and to advice on treatment requirements to cater for proposed developments;
- Preparation of cycle reports;
- Assist in the preparation of the STW design budget;
- Assist in the development and implementation of a quality Assurance System;
- Liaise with the Asset Affairs with respect to all matters involving operation, maintenance and performances of existing or proposed sewage treatment works;
- Liaise with other utilities;
- Contribution towards updating the PWA Drainage Design Manuals;
- Advice on process designs associated with Sewage Treatment Works facilities in the State of Qatar.

As a successful candidate you will have:

- Civil or Environmental engineering degree from an accredited University in the United Kingdom, United States of America or other approved country;
- Ability to speak and write Arabic would be an advantage;
- Up to 7-15 years' experience in Civil and Environmental engineering in the disciplines of sewage treatment works design and process technologies;
- To have an appreciation on international water and effluent quality standards pertaining to Sewage Treatment Works facilities;
- Experiences in major sewage treatment works projects involving government and regulatory departments, public and private sector organizations;
- Experiences in managing large multidisciplinary design projects including Civil Works, Process Designs, MEICA, Sewage Collection and Conveyance Networks and Forwarding Pumping Stations;
- Experiences in Design and Build type contracts associated with Sewage Treatment Works facilities;
- Experience in the Gulf Region projects of similar nature is preferred.
