International Conference on Installation Effects in Geotechnical Engineering.

Date: 24-27 March 2013
Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands

This is the closing conference of the GEO-INSTALL project funded by the EU.

Infrastructure construction involves the installation of structural elements, such as piles and various ground improvement techniques. The installation process generally involves very large deformations and changes in pore pressure. The fact that natural soils are complex geomaterials, exhibiting structure and rate-dependent behaviour, makes analysis of such problems very challenging.

The aim of the conference is to provide an international forum for the latest developments in monitoring, analysing and managing installation effects in geotechnical engineering. Active discussion will be facilitated by several distinguished keynote speakers, such as Lars Andresen (NGI), Minna Karstunen (Chalmers/Strathclyde), Alain Puech (Fugro), Jimmy Wehr (Keller), Pieter Vermeer (Deltares) and David White (UWA). The partners of GEO-INSTALL will present selected highlights of their joint research programme, which has been achieved through intense collaboration between industry and academia.
